Uniform at Watchlytes

Our school’s uniform expectations

  • Navy sweatshirt, fleece or cardigan with school logo optional  (logo jumper/fleece/ cardigan to be worn during school trips and for individual and class photos)*
  • Sky blue polo shirt (logo is optional)
  • Grey trousers, pinafore dress or pinafore skirt
  • Plain black school shoes (no laces until the children are able to do these up independently)
  • Plain black, grey, navy or white socks
  • Suitable waterproof coat (preferably with hood)
  • Grey, black or navy tights
  • Black, grey or navy blue plain jogging bottoms may be worn in Nursery or Reception

Summer uniform:

As above with the option of:

  • Blue and white gingham dress 
  • Knee length plain grey shorts
  • Sun hat / cap 

Jewellery

  • Jewellery must not be worn to school, except for plain silver or gold small stud earrings
  • In line with Hertfordshire County Council guidelines, under no circumstances may jewellery be worn during P.E. lessons for health and safety reasons. Earrings should be removed prior to the lesson. Staff are not allowed to remove earrings on behalf of children. Earrings may not be taped. 
  • We are unable to accept responsibility for jewellery that is lost or damaged at school.

Bags

  • Bookbags are available to carry reading books (but no water bottles). If needed, children can bring small bags that can be hung on a peg. 

Hair

  • Hair below shoulder level should be clipped/tied back. 
  • Hair gel and hair colour should not be worn, apart from on specific events, such as dress up days. 
  • Hair accessories should be simple and preferably in school colours (black, blue and white)

Other

  • Nail varnish, tattoos and make up are not permitted. 
  • Please ensure that all items of clothing worn or sent to school are clearly marked with your child’s name and class to prevent loss.

PE kit 

Children wear active uniform on PE days and will need to come to school in their PE kit. 

  • House colour t-shirt (red, blue, yellow or green). Please check with the school office if you are not sure which house your child is in (logo optional)
  • Plain black or navy shorts or jogging bottoms 
  • School jumper / fleece/ cardigan to be worn over the PE shirt (no hoodies or other jumpers)
  • Plain black or navy blue trainers.

Swimming kit (for Year 4 only)

Bring swimming kit in a sensible sized bag for children to change into at the pool on swimming days

  • A towel
  • Swimming costume or swimming shorts
  • Swimming hat 
  • Goggles if necessary

Forest school

Please ensure your child brings a change of clothes with them to school when they have their forest school sessions. These sessions can get very muddy. 

  • Long sleeved top
  • Waterproof coat
  • Wellies or sturdy waterproof shoes

Lunchtime or after school clubs

  • If children attend a sports or after school club that requires a different kit, this is to be brought to school in a sensible sized bags. Club letters will inform you of the clothes needed.

Where to purchase uniform

Logo items are only available from the school uniform suppliers (links below). All other items can be obtained from supermarkets, online vendors and local suppliers, including Smarty School Wear. 

Pre-loved uniform

    • Our PSA organises pre-loved uniform sales.
